Apply to become a Mission Youth philly APOSTLE 2024-2025

Who Should Apply?

Mission Youth is looking for passionate Missionaries between the ages of 18-24 who are interested in dedicating a year of their life to serving the Philadelphia area and spreading the message of The Gospel. 


What Does the Year Include?

Mission Youth Apostles spend their missionary year encountering the poor and bringing other missionaries to help in serving with various organizations in Kensington, leading monthly missions and groups from schools and parishes who come to Philadelphia, accompanying young men and women on their spiritual journey, working with youth and participating in community life. 


The Application Process

Potential Missionaries will fill out the application below. This application will require: 

-Basic information about the person applying (Name, age, location, current stage of life)

- Applicant will need to have participated in a Philadelphia Mercy Mission OR a mission in another Regnum Christi Locality. (If you have not fulfilled this requirement, see our homepage for mission information!)

- One letter of recommendation from a mentor, teacher, priest, coach, etc. 

- In a short essay, share with us your desire to serve and live in community and why you want to be a Mission Youth Apostle

- Submit!

What Happens After I Apply?

After submitting the application, applicants will be invited to 2 rounds of recorded interviews with The Mission Youth Team. This allows us to get a chance to know the applicant better and understand more fully their desires to be apart of our program. 

I've Been Accepted! Now What?

Once accepted into The Apostle Program, you will be required to provide Volunteer Clearances before June of 2024.   There is a mandatory fundraising training bootcamp in June 7th-9th of 2024 which will give you  all the support and assistance you need to fundraise your tuition!

Snapshot of the year

  • Daily morning offering, Mass, Holy Hour, Rosary and  night prayers
  • Monthly Retreat
  • Annual Silent Ignation Spiritual Exercises.


  • Daily community responsibilities: cooking, cleaning, groceries, car maintenance
  • Weekly community meals and bible study
  • Weekly formation on topics like liturgy, evangelization, Theology of the Body and Pro-Life dialogue, etc.


  •  Lead weekly Encounter with Christ Bible study
  • Attend outings/hikes with young men & women with Philly Frassati and others
  • Team-building activities on Sundays


  •  Accountability in fundraising starting in June
  • Weekly one-on-one with Program Coordinator
  • Monthly Spiritual direction (with a SD of your choice)


  •  Weekdays
  • Monday: formation mornings, Mission Partner afternoon
  • Tues, Thur: Serve at various organizations in Kensington
  • Tues Night: lead bible study
  • Wednesdays: Rest
  • Friday: Mission Prep Day
  • Saturday: Mercy Mission Day
  • Sunday: Pulpit Talks/Community Day
  • Monthly
  • Support Regnum Christi Philadelphia community and events
  • As Needed
  • Travel to other cities to help train and lead Mission Youth in evangelization
  • Travel as staff with groups that need leaders to missions abroad
  • Staff Mission Youth table/booth at SEEK convention
 


Frequently Asked Questions

  • When does service year begin and end? Starting in June you will begin fundraising alongside the Apostle team with a 2-day bootcamp in June There will be summer formation/training July-August followed by more time for fundraising. Community life in Philly will begin September 1, 2023 and go until June 2024
  • Are my expenses paid for or do I get a paycheck?  From the money you have fundraised, you will receive bi-weekly paychecks to cover living costs, mission expenses, and any personal needs. As you walk in the footsteps of the Apostles, you are expected to live simply and be good stewards of the money given to you to live out your mission.
  • How much does it cost to join the program?  The minimum amount of money raised by Sept 1 is $9,600 and you are expected to raise more during the year as an apostle (through fundraising events and parish talks). 
  • Where will we live? In a community in Folsom, PA. Young men and women live separately.
  • Will we have breaks during the year? Yes! You will have one week off for Thanksgiving, two weeks for Christmas, and one week for Easter. Exceptions can be made for certain family obligations.
  • How old do I have to be to apply? You must be 18 years or older by Sept 1 2023
